Welcome to the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District Website
On behalf of our entire staff, I welcome you to the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District’s website. We take pride in our work and strive to provide exceptional service to our community. We currently maintain a Class 3 ISO rating and utilize a staffing model that includes career, contract, and part-time personnel. Our mission is to embrace evolving best practices to ensure high-quality services for both our residents and businesses.
The Bourbonnais Fire Protection District provides fire and emergency medical services to the Village of Bourbonnais, all unincorporated areas of Bourbonnais Township, and a small portion of Ganeer Township. We cover approximately 33 square miles, serving more than 32,000 residents in Kankakee County. Additionally, we offer automatic and mutual aid services to many surrounding communities.
Our department recruits individuals who are committed to both the Fire District and the people we serve. Fire District personnel work tirelessly to sustain a high level of service through excellent firefighting, emergency medical care, specialized rescue operations, fire prevention, and public education programs. We are dedicated to being the most educated and prepared emergency service providers, which we achieve through continuous training and education.
In addition to emergency response services, our fire prevention team conducts routine fire safety inspections of all industrial, commercial, educational, and multi-family buildings within our jurisdiction. Our Public Education personnel provide specialized services through school programs, fire extinguisher training, block parties, children’s safety programs, and various other community events.
Please take a moment to explore our website to learn more about the services and activities we offer. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
James R. Keener
