| The Bourbonnais Firefighters Foreign Fire Tax Board has recently purchased a Taylor’d Training Prop to support and enhance firefighter training within the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District.
This investment demonstrates the Board’s ongoing commitment to firefighter safety, skill development, and operational readiness. The new training prop provides firefighters with a hands-on, realistic environment to practice essential fireground skills, including forcible entry, ventilation techniques, door control, and ladder operations.
“The addition of this prop strengthens our ability to provide in-house, scenario-based training that directly supports the work our members perform every day,” said Fire Chief James R. Keener. “We are grateful to the Foreign Fire Tax Board for their continued dedication to improving our training programs and ensuring our firefighters are well-prepared to serve the community.”
The Foreign Fire Tax Board, composed of elected representatives from the department’s rank-and-file members, utilizes funds generated from taxes on out-of-state insurance companies that sell fire insurance within the district. These funds are designated to benefit the health, safety, and welfare of the firefighters.
The Taylor’d Training Prop will be installed at the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District’s training grounds and will be utilized during ongoing drills and future joint training exercises with neighboring departments.
“This type of investment has a direct impact on our ability to train more effectively and safely,” said Battalion Chief McCrary, President of the Foreign Fire Tax Board. “It’s a great example of how the Board can give back to our members and, ultimately, to the residents we serve.”
