| The Bourbonnais Fire Protection District is proud to announce that it has been awarded a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This highly competitive grant program provides critical funding to help fire departments across the nation increase or maintain the number of trained, “front line” firefighters available in their communities.
The awarded grant will specifically fund the hiring of three full-time Firefighter/Paramedics, enhancing the District’s ability to respond to growing emergency service demands within the community.
“This grant represents a significant investment in the safety of our residents and the well-being of our firefighters,” said Fire Chief James R. Keener. “With the continued growth of our community and increasing call volume, these additional full-time personnel will help us improve response times and maintain the high level of service our residents deserve.”
The Bourbonnais Fire Protection District continues to pursue opportunities like the SAFER Grant to ensure sustainable staffing levels, operational readiness, and firefighter safety. The District extends its appreciation to FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security for their ongoing support of local fire service agencies.
